About

Girls Afternoon Tea is your ultimate guide to the most delicious afternoon tea venues in the UK all neatly packaged under one convenient roof for you to browse, drool and hopefully book.

It was created by myself, Alison Winn, following a search through multiple websites to find somewhere nice to treat a friend to afternoon tea. There are many beautiful venues from luxury hotels to stately homes and hidden gems, quite rightly, promoting all their services and facilities in stylish websites. However, what struck me was that I had to dig deep to find out if they offered afternoon tea. This was often tucked away hidden under an assortment of bars and restaurants, cocktails and lunch menus.

Afternoon tea is an exceptionally popular recreational activity. It’s also highly competitive. Your website has 6 seconds to solve a visitors problem. I had a burning desire to create a go to on-line destination offering visitors quick and easy access to a diverse range of afternoon tea options. As a foodie it gave me an excuse to salivate and indeed sample (all in the name of research) mouthwatering afternoon tea menus and indulge my passion for writing.

My other passion is digital marketing. I ran my own web and digital marketing company for 7 years and following a 6 week contract to assist with the launch of Edinburgh’s award winning This is Edinburgh campaign (a 2 year and £2m funded project by Edinburgh City Council) was delighted to be appointed Digital Marketing Manager – a role I enjoyed for a further 14 months. During this time we saw the visitor numbers of a brand new website rise to 70,000 per month, social media combined across Facebook and Twitter reached 100,000 and our mailing list quickly grew to 12,000+.

My other services included training in SEO (either to groups or individuals) and copywriting training. I have an accredited Diploma in copywriting. There is nothing I enjoy more than chatting to people about their businesses and helping them develop their marketing strategies.

Our customers are at the heart of everything we do (I know this sounds cliché). Whether it’s building a new website, responding to a social media comment or serving someone a cup of tea (I have been a waitress too in my time), I am a stickler for delivering good customer service. Experiences are measured by not what we heard, saw or tasted but how it made us feel. My website visitors, social media followers and partners all play their part and are key to everything I do.

I am ably assisted by a small team of talented, professional copywriters sprinkled across the UK which means we are able to get out and bring you honest reviews.

I hope you enjoy your time on the website and would be delighted if you would continue your journey with us on social media (accessible from the top of the page) or by commenting on our blog posts. You can always drop us a line at hello@girlsafternoontea.co.uk. This is a rapidly expanding website and feedback is always welcome.
