A city initially served by coal, today’s Coal Drops Yard, the current shopping district of King’s Cross, served as its original coal store. In this inventive afternoon tea menu, the chefs at the Hansom present their 62% Dark Chocolate and Raspberry Coal Clusters.

BANANA AND MILK CHOCOLATE TART*

As the first Pullman train arrived in the UK on the Midland Railway, groups of wealthy travellers embarked on mystery tours. These trains were not only vital in the transportation of people but also food and other materials. In 2011, excavation work of the goods yard near St Pancras station revealed evidence of a large potato market and a banana stall which was discovered on old maps used for ripening and selling bananas. The team have therefore created their Banana and 53% Milk Chocolate Tart.

CHERRY DROP BAKEWELL TART*

The Cherry Drop Bakewell Tart takes inspiration from the renowned Bakewell Tart in Derbyshire as an homage to the light blue ironwork seen in St Pancras Station which was manufactured in 1790 by Benjamin Outram & Co in Derbyshire.

These are just a few of the treats to look forward which are all served with a selection of seasonal savouries including wild boar sausage rolls, haggis scotch egg, traditional cucumbar sandwiches and much more.
