Things to Do in Glasgow for a Gorgeous Girls Day Out
Glasgow – busy, bustling and fabulously fun! This former industrial metropolis has had an epic transformation over the years and is now one of the top 5 city breaks in the UK. From the multitude of designer boutiques to the decadent champagne bars and afternoon tea venues, Glasgow is THE go-to destination for a girls gorgeous getaway.
In our latest blog, we catch up with local girl Tracy Mukherjee for suggestions on the best things to do in Glasgow for a truly decadent girls day out.
A leisurely morning in Glasgow
No need to start the day with a bang. We suggest a gentle luxurious start with a visit to the stunning Salon Lounge on the first floor of the 5 star Blysthwood Square Hotel. With a delectable tea menu and hot buttered scones on offer, time to discuss the day ahead overlooking leafy Blysthwood Square.
Next, and with such fabulous surroundings, why not prolong your stay and visit the awarding winning spa at Blysthwood Square for a little bit of TLC. The range of treatments on offer is extensive. The spa itself has 9 luxury treatment rooms, a thermal suite with a great range of steam and water therapies, two relaxation pools, a lounge and café area, not to mention some quiet areas for your post treatment snooze. By the end of your visit you will leave feeling thoroughly pampered and definitely ready for the rest of the day.
A light bite for lunch or afternoon tea
Once your manicure is thoroughly dry, it’s on to your next destination. After such a taxing morning, the girls will certainly be ready for lunch. How about a light nibble or afternoon tea at Chaophraya, perfectly placed for access to bustling Buchanan Street and Buchanan Galleries or a short walk from Princes Square.
Currently taking Glasgow by storm is a city sightseeing tour on board a retro Routemaster 66 vintage bus complete with afternoon tea. Pictured here is the gin afternoon tea bus tour with gin teapot cocktail infused with fresh herbs and edible flowers. You could go for a sparkling option and enjoy an afternoon tea bus tour with a glass of fizz.
For afternoon tea with a French theme, Patisserie Valerie also serves a fabulous afternoon tea to satisfy any sweet tooth.
What’s more, they’ll even give you a £10 voucher and cake box to select 4 more tasty treats to continue your afternoon tea experience at home.
With venues in West Nile Street and Royal Exchange this is a great stop off to recharge your batteries.

Time for some retail therapy
It’s time for some retail therapy girls! Glasgow is a shopping mecca. From the high street brands on Argyle Street and Sauchiehall Street to the fabulous fashionista flavour of Ingram Street and Buchanan Street, there is plenty to spend your pennies on. Remember to make a stop at the stunning Gallery of Modern Art (GOMA) at Royal Exchange Square on Queen Street to take in a spot of culture, before heading to our personal favourite shopping venue, Princes Square. This designer mall in Buchanan Street is filled to the brim with gorgeous girlie gifts, not to mention some fabulous places for a glass of fizz – well you do need to rest your weary feet don’t you?
Dinner in Glasgow
It’s that time already!
Only a 5 minute walk from Princes Square will get you to your divine dinner destination. We recommend Brown’s Brasserie on Glasgow’s famous George Square. With it’s gorgeous “grand cafe” interior, this city centre venue has a fabulous reputation for it’s impressive cocktail list. With a mouthwatering dinner menu catering for every taste, this is the perfect place for dinner with the girls. Brown’s Brasserie has a great atmosphere and excellent service. A firm favourite with it’s clientele, bookings are highly recommended.
Time to hit the town
It’s been a long day ladies – but you’re not tired! Wander through Glasgow’s stunning Merchant City with it’s numerous cocktail and champagne bars such as Citation and Metropolitan, before arriving at your final destination of the day, the simply beautiful, Arta. This spanish inspired bar, restaurant and club is plush, opulent and ticks all the boxes to round off your day out. Wander from the almost operatic main bar with its dramatic floor to ceiling velvet curtains, to the spanish courtyard with it’s central fountain… yes, you really are still in Glasgow! Finally, why not take a trip downstairs for some live music. Book a booth in the Canvas Club and dance the night away on Fridays and Saturdays with live bands and resident DJs. A perfect end to a quite perfect day.
Glasgow provides a wealth of ways to spend the day and these suggestions are but the tip of the iceberg. With a motto of “People make Glasgow”, there are fewer friendlier cities to visit. A cosmopolitan, entertaining and very beautiful destination, choose Glasgow for a fabulous fun day out.
