This afternoon tea at the Winchester Royal has been carefully created to reflect the refinement and tastes of the early 19th century with a focus on seasonal ingredients and timeless favourites. Served on a decadent tiered cake stand, it boasts a sumptuous selection of savoury and sweet treats, beautifully washed down by your choice from an assortment of fine teas inspired by Austen’s characters and settings. Why not add a sparkling wine or refreshing G&T to complement your afternoon tea?

THE SAVOURY TABLE:

Sandwich selections inspired by Austen’s Georgian countryside, perfect for a genteel gathering:

  • Cucumber and Mint: Lightly buttered bread with crisp cucumber and fresh mint. VE, V
  • Chicken and Tarragon: Tender chicken with a delicate tarragon mayonnaise
  • Egg and Cress: A classic Regency pairing of seasoned egg and fresh garden cress. V
  • Roast Beef with Horseradish Cream: Thinly sliced roast beef complemented by a hint of horseradish.

THE SWEET PARLOUR:

An array of delicate pastries and cakes inspired by the seasons and Georgian traditions.

  • Warm Scones: With clotted cream and jam
  • Mini Cake Selection: Dainty sweet treats.

Please Note: The menu changes each season, ensuring the freshest and most flavoursome ingredients.

Gluten Free and Vegan Afternoon Tea are also available.
Afternoon tea is served from 12pm – 4pm.
